The Lonely Deck Chairs

A few weeks ago on our wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to take a day trip to Scarborough on the North Yorkshire coast of England. Now, my wife’s idea of a day trip to the seaside is to spend time in the amusement arcades, and mine is to wander around taking photos. So we compromised and spent time in the amusement arcades! I did however see these lonely deck chairs on the beach whilst walking between the arcades and just had to snap!

Eerily Noisy

This photo was taken on an industrial estate in Manchester, and being a Sunday afternoon this area was deserted. As a result the man made noises, which you would normally associate with industrial activity, were almost completely absent. However, this area is quite close to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium which had an event on, and as a result there was the eerie distant noise of people cheering.

Thrill Seeker

For me, the thrill in photography is chasing that unusual subject, composing it in the viewfinder, and pressing the shutter. I also get excitement from first seeing my images on the monitor, as I did in the past with film, seeing my prints come to life in the darkroom. Continue reading

Abstritecture

Walk around any large city these days and you are likely to find buildings faced predominantly with reflective glass. I find these buildings an excellent canvas for abstract photography, and over the last couple of years have built up a series of what I call abstritecture.
